Stainless Steel Lock Spindle

A Stainless Steel Lock Spindle is a component used in door handle or door knob assemblies to connect and operate the mechanism of a latch or lock. It is typically a length of square rod or bar made from stainless steel, a corrosion-resistant alloy known for its durability and strength.

The stainless steel lock spindle is designed to fit into the square holes located at the back of a set of door handles or door knobs. It passes through the follower, also known as the spindle hole, on a tubular latch or mortice lock. When the levers on the door handles are depressed or the door knob is turned, the spindle rotates, operating the latch mechanism inside the door.

Compared to regular steel spindles, stainless steel lock spindles offer several advantages, particularly in coastal and nautical applications where corrosion resistance is crucial. They are built to withstand exposure to moisture and salt air, making them suitable for use in environments prone to corrosion.
